Samsung Behold vs T-Mobile G1 Phone
The T-Mobile G1 Phone is always being compared to the Apple iPhone 3G, but that is an unfair fight. Maybe the first Google Android powered phone should be compared to something that is more on a level with the handset, like the Samsung Behold.
The specs on both are impressive, but you can’t help but notice how much better looking the Behold is, but Samsung have a knack of designing nice looking phones. The Samsung has a 3-inch LCD color touch screen, 5 megapixel camera and camcorder with flash and auto-focus, included 1GB microSD Card and an HTML web browser. The Samsung Behold sounds impressive on paper.
The T-Mobile G1 has a slightly larger 3.2-inch TFT-LCD flat touch-sensitive screen; the camera is a lower 3.2-megapixel with auto-focus and only has a 192.0 MB built-in memory. Overall the hardware on the Samsung Behold is a much better handset, but it is the software on the T-Mobile G1 that’s makes it a good phone.

Right now I have the T-Mobile G1 and it was really great when I first got it but after a couple of days it started to get not so great after all. It’s really bulky and heavy, and I take a lot of pictures the g1 has no zoom and if you barely move when your taking a picture it turns out blury. The only good thing about the g1 is the keyboard. I thought it was really cool that they had a touch screen and trackball to navigate, and having to slide up to get the keyboard was pretty cool but it made thephone bulky. I checked out the samsung behold and it had a great camera which was good for me and it was slim and light. All I have to do is to get used to the virtual keyboard and that’s it and to see if I could get some games on it too.
I just cannot wait to get rid of this g1 & replace it with behold. battery life is horrible, typing sucks & bulky.
I have the G1 and just like everyone else says that has one its bulky,and the keyboard is the only solitary thing good about it. The battery lasts one day if you are just making calls and texting but any app use at all and it dies almost instantly so Im tryin to get rid of this brick and get the behold.

After going from a krzr for 2 years, I thought the G1 would make a great change up. The chunkiness is just far to annoying. I like the whole google concept, but I think I will go back slim and completely touch with Behold.

I have the Behold and it’s great! I love the touch screen capabilities and having everything on the screen. No more need to carry a PDA and a cell phone. I checked out the G1 and it was just to big and bulky.
what is with the hating on the g1? wifi, full html browser, android, physical keyboard, capacitive touch screen, you guys are haters, the g1 is extremely superior…………
I absolutly LOVE the BEHOLD….G1 is horrible…might seem great at 1st, but once you try the behold there is no going back to g1…..
Had the G1, sold it to a total sucker for 200 bucks. Considering the behold, for not though I’m sticking with my Curve. Couldn’t stand the G1 after the first 1 or 2 days. It’s big, and very complicated compared to my Blackberry. Having to shift from touch screen to keyboard means too much flipping and tapping for me. I need a phone that I can handle with one hand – once it requres the use of both hands AT ALL TIMES (G1), it becomes totally useless. I’d love to hear more about the Behold…definitely my next trial phone!!

Ladies & Gentlemen I have the G1 & my wife has the Behold. They are both great phones. I’m a man so the G1 isn’t too big for me & the Behold is a great size for my wife. U male punks complaining of the “bulkiness” of the G1 need to man up. The G1 has a more sensitive touch screen extremely fast web browsing, the ability to keep upgrading with android, a optional keypad & if u spend your money on a 8gb or 16gb card you will have unlimited space. The Behold can’t compete with that be serious.
i currently have the behold.. i went from sidekick slide to behold and now i want the G1. it might be just me, but im tired of my behold. . the “bulkiness” or the size of the g1 dosent bother me at all because my friend has it & its nothing.
You’re actually comparing the usability and superiority of the G1 (Webkit browser, Wifi, 3G, GPS, Capacitive touch screen) with the less than full feature Behold? Granted the G1’s battery is no winner, it is clearly a mini notebook in your pocket. The notification drawer in Android clearly kicks iPhone and the other phones in the butt. As for the bulkyness, that is primarily due to a physical keyboard, get rid of it and it’ll easily a more solid device, but that’s one of the prime features of it. I would never trade a G1 for a non-Android phone.
I have the G1 and am returning it for a more practical phone. I was told by a rep that the G1 is a data service first, then a phone. It’s like having a baby laptop in your pocket. But I’m more for pics/videos/voice recording and crucial text messaging which I find more difficult with the G1. It’s great for those who are constant web browsers, but if you want the practicality of a phone, then G1 is not for you. I also heard through the grapvine that TMobile is about to release the G2. Maybe because of the inaccuracies of the G1, it is being upgraded to a more effecient data device with comparable phone capabilities. I did hear the Behold is giving phones a run for their money. But I’m still under my buyer’s remorse, because I do have remorse.
I have the G1 and im sick of it!!! I’m considering either going back to my Curve, waiting for the new Blackberry that is coming out or getting the Behold….help???
My boyfriend has the g1. still loves it but its bulky and battery life sucks. now he’s mad though because i just ordered the behold. it arrives tomorrow. =]
I had the G1 and switched to the behold. After using the behold, in my opinion the G1 is better. That is why i am switching back to the G1. The only thing good about the behold is the camera.

My boyfriend has a G1 and I have the Behold. I don’t understand why the two are being compared. The G1 is a smartphone. Yes, it has extremely annoying flaws (IM not working properly, etc.) but it is able to take upgrades from androids. I think of the Behold as just a really pricey regular phone that happens to have a touch screen. The features like the 5 megapixel camera, keyboard with accelerometer, etc. are great and the exterior of the phone itself is really sophisticated and sleek. It is still not a smartphone and I think many of the unhappy Behold buyers are those who were led into thinking it was one (considering the price and its potential, it should be!). The email feature sucks and the web-browsing is super slow (even if you live areas with 3G). Can’t you tell I’m a bit bitter? Haha. I was rushed into buying the phone so I didn’t really look and compare all the features. I wouldn’t get either phone considering the price and the flaws. If I have the choice, I’d get the Blackberry Curve in a heartbeat.
Some people just dont want the G1 due to the fact tht it requires a data plan. I got my behold for 1 penny, with a two year contract. They claim it was a glitch in the system. For a penny, I can not complain. =)
You know whats so sad? You people are actually TRYING to compare the Behold to the G1.. Ha ha ha.. If you brought the behold then you’ll BE-Holding that phone for life. Because Nobody in their right mind other than side kick LX fanatics would purchase that phone. The keyboard is cute, as well as the fact that it looks like a mini camera. BUT THATS IT!!! It canNOT keep up with the G1. Android is the best. and I havent had ONE problem with the G1. But my wife is having ALL kinds of problems with her behold ( cuts off, dont respond,,etc.) The only complaint I have with the G1 is the battery life. And EVERYTHING you down load is FREE! For 400 dollars I got my moneys worth. Oh yeah, my wife paid 400 for her behold. She wants a G1 now. And the G1 is bulky because it has a brain. The behold is a razor with a touch screen… Trash!! My wife will trade you her pink behold for a G1.. Holla back!!!
i love the behold and all but dont get it now its to late the samsung memoir came out yesteday the 25 its that samething as the behold but it got an 8mp camera. and i love the behold so that anf that make the memoir even better g1 suck sister has it she seid i couldent get it cuz she got it and im glad i dident
I actually have mixed feelings about both the behold and the g1, especially considering i love the daylights out of my blackberry. Last weekend i bought the g1 figuring its time for something maybe newer and a little better. To be honest with you i actually wanted the behold because of the touch screen and other features but for me considering i have pretty big hands, the behold seemed rather small and dinky so therefore i went with the g1 and sadly to say i was not impressed….at all. Maybe i bought the dud out of the bunch but only half the features worked, it kept delting my contacts, the messenger feature logs itself off after a while and the battery life truly sucked. I tried downloading music onto it and although it showed up on the memory card i couldnt find it anywhere on the g1 media player itself. Therefore i took it back and re-activated my blackberry curve, its very simple and easy and is what worked more than well for me for the last year and a half or so. After the headache of the g1 my next upgrade would just be a newer blackbery curve. thats what wors for me.
I have the g1 its ok right out the box. Didn’t have things I like, like the windows phones I had ,the sprint mougle and tmobile dash. no pic mesage, stro bluetooh, can’t use it as a modem, but ido like the andriod system… was going to buy something diffrent but I think ima hold off till cupcacke update comes. Tmobile tecks said it would open all the featuers I just named and if that’s tru the g1 would be the best phone for me…one more thing I typed this all on my g1 so I do like the we

I have the Behold nd Absolutly love it, it Looks great and it not big or bulky. The camera is Wonderful… I would reccomend this phone to anyone considering it!!
Behold cuts off and on I am on my third behold now. Not a good phone. Second phone screen black out when on a call or recieving a call.
so basically, this is how it is: differen’t people prefer differen’t phones. some people like the bulk of the g1. others don’t. of course there will be duds in the group, there are problems with both phones: but IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR OPPINIONS TO SWAY YOUR DECISION ON WHAT PHONE TO GET HERES MY ADVICE: go to a tmobile store and try them both out. you’ll never know which one you’ll like best, unless you experience them both yourself. since youve obviously read all of the other reviews, you know there are people happy with both. GO FIGURE OUT WHICH ONE YOU’LL BE HAPPY WITH. like my grandma says; “you can watch the dvd, but there’s nothing like seeing the show.”
I love the g1 I was going to buy a lap top for mobile purposes but I don’t need it no more!. The bat dies to soon but that is the only problem the behold screen is to small and it doesn’t have a key board man up n stay with the g1 .they have a upgrade for the camera anywys
I own the Samsung Rose Behold.. I was always debating which one would be best for me the G1 or the behold.. Now that Ive owned it for like 2 months Im loving it. The only bad thing about the behold would be the battery life. The battery life doesn’t last long if your web casting or trying to tweet. I constantly have to recharge my battery every 5 hours or so depending how often I am browsing to texting.. Other than that I love it. =P
i have a samsung behold and its AWESOME it has a great camera and the internet is fast and it holds of stuff.. alot of you future samsung behold buyers just knoe that it is an awesome phone and its worth it.. =)
i have dha behold an its really great but it frezzes on me in the cold it clicks on things i dont want and sometimes it wouldnt touch its just a hot mess but its off dha hook when it works but i rather have a non touch screen phone the batterie is great 2 but i herd for some of the samsung behold batteries are being recalled……so some folks should watch out for dhat and my behold has been froze on dha same screen 4 a week now tell mi dhats not anyoing lol

I bought the Motorola Zine because it was on sale. The 5MP camera is awesome!! I have been using it for 4 months now and still can’t take my hands off of it. The phone is also very sturdy and has a good battery life. But I have to admit, it’s REALLY UGLY and the other phone features are at most mediocre. So now… I’m looking for a new T-Mobile phone. My choices are… the Memoir, the G1, and the Behold.
I think the MEMOIR is the highest quality and has the most features. I think it’s a very solid phone. I think for those of you who want a quality product, you should go for the MEMOIR. However, after testing it out, I really think it’s UGLY too. As for the G1, it’s UGLY and heavy. So I’m seriously considering getting the BEHOLD. I think touch screen is the standard for cell phones now. I think the BEHOLD has this standard design. It’s also important to me that he phone has a 5MP camera.
My only concern is… should I shell out $200 for the BEHOLD just for its design? I mean, my ZINE has everything the BEHOLD has except for the sleek touch screen. What to do???
I bought the G1 and I LOVE IT! I was scared to buy the g1 at first, because of all the negative feedback I heard. But after actually owning one, i noticed some of the feedback & comments on here are just an EXAGGERATION!

I have had the Behold for 2 months. I love it. My battery life is actually very good. I charge it every 3 days or so. It has great call quality and I love the touch screen with vibration. My internet is pretty fast and the camera is amazing. I recommend it.

i have tha behold rite now, & i think everyone who claims tha BEHOLD is better needs to actually get 1 so that they can relize EXACTLY what there saying. beholds are gay in my perspective. at 1st i was excited but now its jus plain boring. & the typing sucks.. unless yu have tiny fingers yu mess up alot & to write a word over yu have to delete almost everything
As a birthday present, I was offered a new phone since it was my birthday and since my contract was up for renewal. I had been anticipating on getting my T-Mobile G1, but once I got to the T-Mobile Store, I for some insanely odd reason decided to get the Samsung Behold. The first few days I had it, it seemed like a really cool phone! Once I started text messaging with it, all my interest in it went down the tubes. They also advertised the phone as having a full HTML web browser, which was a big white lie! Most of my web pages were converted to mobile versions and I dreaded scrolling with the phone because it would ware my finger tips out.
I traded my Samsung Behold with my brother, who had a T-Mobile Dash. It was a pretty good phone, but it didn’t have any neat features. However, it hands down had the BEST phone keyboard that ever existed.
In late April, my father finally came to his senses. My mom had been having loads of trouble with her Samsung T-639, which was a huge piece of crap phone. My dad made me a deal that if I gave her my T-Mobile Dash, he would buy me a brand-new T-Mobile G1! How could I resist? So, I went to the T-Mobile Store and bought a new T-Mobile G1. Luckily, my father owns his own company and owns all of his employee’s cell phone lines, so we were able to find a line that was available for a contract renewal. The T-Mobile G1 is 110% better than the Samsung Behold. It has better features, a better keyboard, a trackball for scrolling, and the fact that it is bulky makes it easier to hold and less likely to slip out of my hands! I love my T-Mobile G1 and I highly regret purchasing the Samsung Behold. My brother doesn’t like it very well either.
The Samsung Behold does have a full HTML browser, you were just going to the wrong pages, as well as the fact that the G1 is bulker and looks a lot uglier then the Behold.
The Behold beats the G1 because of the slick design and full touch screen capabilities.
I got the Behold in May of 2009, and so far I really like it.. I was going to get the G1 but from reading peoples comments.. about it.. I’m glad I got the Behold.. I agree Behold does

hokayy… I have the g1 and its not bulky… you DON’T have to have you hands on it at all times either I mean seriously… there is a keyboard on the touch screen and when you tip it to the left it has another one I mean hooow cool is that? I’m 13 and its not EVEN too big for me… and I’m a girl so that makes you guys that say its too bulky sound like wimps. And I have a friend who has the g1 says it is a horrible phone. My local phone store is recalling it anyways. So it must not be a good phone in the first place…. I love the g1!!!!

I have the samsung memoir and it’s a great phone. Great picture quality. But lately my screen goes black when I’m in a call and I cannot press any keys or mute or speaker etc… I call customer support and they have no answer, does anyone else have this problem…..its fustrating….can anyone help….thanks
i am trying to decide between the behold and the G1. I really do not know… i know the g1 has wi-fi and the behold does not… what is the point of wi-fi on a phone? I do not want the keyboard so that will not be a deciding factor for me!! HELP?!?!?!
Honestly I want the Behold because mostly everyone I know now has the G1 and I want to be different. Second, I know the G1 has alot of features and free downloadable apps but I just want something simple to use. I also like how the Behold is nice and simple and candy-bar like in my hands. I don’t like how the G1 curves near the bottom. That was pointless in my opinion. G1 has a keyboard, yeah, but my fingers can barely fit on my samsung katalyst. And Flippin for each text message I recieve…..no. What about in school? I like texting in school and flippin like that would get my teacher’s attention eventually… G1 is not for me in my opinion and until I get my behold I kinda recommend the Behold…..
k the g1 is soo better in fact i’m using it right now and it is like im at home on the computer typin and im fast at it has a curve so u can speak into it better duh and i drop my phone alot because the gravity is really sorta slippery and the g1 is amazing cause i haven’t dropped it once and i had or two weeks now the g1 is simply amazing and it is no bulky guy and im bout to turn 11 so wow guys who say that are wimps o and im really weak i can barely lift 10 pounds so ya g1 rocks

I havent used the behold yet but it is looking like its going to be gay. The g1 is a nice phone but the battery sucks, and I don’t see any of this super fast browser that everyones talking about….the phone tends to lag and programs forclose alot. Its am amazing phone but why do I need to spend 80-90$ a month for unlimited calling and data. I can just use my computer. i would like to go back to 50 a month so I am gong to try the behold
look guys. i went 2 the T-mobile store and love the behold memoir and g1. i getting a new phone next moth and need help. The memoir is just and upgraded behold so that takes the behold out of the picture. And where i’m buying it from, it does not require a data plan.

I just got the Behold from t-mobile and my wife has the g1. I have 14 days to figure out which one is better. Now I’m a man, and don’t really need a lot of the stuff that the G1 has but as I keep reading all these reviews, as much as I love the Behold for all its features, the biggest problem I’m having is with the camera itself, which is really why I got it compared to the g1. With a new contract its the same exact price, so it’s a simple swap out, but I’ve taken all kinds of pictures and a lot of them have come out kind of fuzzy. I like the flash and what not, but compared to my wife’s 3.2 megapixel camera, it kind of comes of short. While it doesn’t have a flash, the pictures actually seem more clearer. Maybe I haven’t set up the camera right, and have yet to sit down and read the manual, but I want love the Behold, but that camera thing is really bothering. Also when you’re looking at pictures and you happen to tilt the phone just a bit, it starts rapidly going thru all the pictures like they’re falling out and it annoys my like crazy. Is anyone else having a problem with this? Please let me know, before my 14 days is up, becuase I really want to have a good phone, but if I’m going to pay the same, I might as well get the g1 with all the other stuff that comes with it. Ok so im basicaly looking for a phone thats fun and wont get boring too soon. I used to have a Sprint Instinct and the video was very laggy sound was not all that great and it froze on me alot plus no custimization on the pictures could not even zoom and i dont remember having flash so plz help me for deciding which touchscreen phone is the best Thx

I think one of the major advantages of the G1 over the Samsung Behold is its qwuerty keypad which allows for some good old keypad banging! Seriously, a touch screen phone like the Samsung is not up to any business tasks. Having that said the Samsung still features a lot of great specs and the Samsung Touchwiz UI functions great maybe only rivalled by HTC’s Sense UI.
SMH sadly … I have the the Behold and it it SUCKS!!! (the camera is the only redeeming quality on this phone)
The proprietary OS is more locked than Ft. Knox and there are absolutely zero upgrades. Why anyone in their right mind would forfeit their G1 for this kiddie phone is beneath me. Android is the new millennium and if you insist on getting the Behold, please wait until the Behold II comes out on Nov18. Now this phone has an Android OS, Wi-Fi and all the other lovable gadgets that a smartphone should have, it’s more comparable to the mytouch 3G and is one of the first Samsung phones to go with a 3rd party OS besides Windows Mobile.
So in review … Behold = Bad …. G1 = Okay ….. Behold II = Uber-fantastic.
Hell, if you don’t want your G1 i will trade you my Behold and $20 bucks right now in a heartbeat.
i have da behold….n i like it better den da g1…da g1 is too big n i have a hard time txting…da camera on da behold is soooo good dat sometimes i dont even need my digital camera…i jus dont like dat da behold restarts on me wen im on da web…n i wud rather a phone where i can add lots of apps n listen to radio stations n sruff like dat…like da mytouch…so i think im gonna have to get dat one nxt…but definately da behold is better den da g1….hands down
