Samsung Behold vs iPhone 3G
The Samsung Behold SGH-T919 is another of those phones who wants to take on the iPhone 3G, but could this actually be the one, the “iPhone Killer.” The iPhone and the Samsung Behold look very similar to look at, but they do have their differences.
Both the iPhone 3G and Samsung Behold are evenly matched, but the latter does have the edge when it comes to multimedia messaging, video recording and voice dialing. I am an iPhone user and I hate that the phone lacks these features, but we hope that a firmware update will correct this small issues.
Looks like a nice phone, but there is any available applications for it?? like games and themes?? I been searching and nothing about this phone, since is a samsung propietary os, we wont see any developers coding applications for it!!?? just wondering!!!
Try SamsungMobile.com… its an application site for Samsung Phones. Not sure if they do have things for this phone yet, but that would be one of the first places to check
the samsung behold is smaller and better than the iphone!!!!!
Yes, it has widgets for the phone.

So the Behold has the same apps/widgets like the G1 and iPhone? I wanna buy a new phone but not sure if i wanna buy a iPhone,G1, or the Behold. Can you guys tell me which is best and why?
I own the Behold and its great! But the IPhone can access the internet using wifi hot spots without access your service (cuts down charge for use) I have not found a way to do this with the Behold. I do love the phone, but this is a great feature if you just want to access the web using wifi at “say” Panera Bread Company or something. Just a thought.
wondering if this phone supports gps???
It has a telenavagation system as one of the widgets
I thought this site was about The Behold. Not the VU, iphone and the other one.
I just got rid of my Behold and got the G1… I’d have to say that the Behold is just a touch screen piece of crap. I always dropped it cuz it’s soo small and thin and I’m a female w/ small small hands. The widgets are nothing but icons, that’s it. Basically most of the icons itself are different but the actual meaning of them are ridiculous and you can end up with like 4 of the same thing on ur screen, Ridiculous. So u got ur calendar then an event reminder then another calendar thing and the calender itself reminds you. Annoying. Idk y someone called this ph a smart ph! I had internet on it and it was sooo slow, 1/2 of what I needed to find didn’t even work! ridiculous! You can’t change the sound of the text messages, so everyday ur gonna hear the same text alert… The alerts always pop up and every time u select ok then like 1 min. later they pop up again, voice mail, or missed event or missed call until u call bk voice mail or dismiss it you actually gotta go in and delete. I absolutely recommend the G1, I-Phone or the Blackberry.
I have the Samsung Behold and I love it. I have read on here that some of you did not like the phone because of the noise that it makes when you click any icon or touch anywhere on your phone. To turn this setting off, Simply go to your Menu-Then Settings-Then sound profiles-Click the normal setting. It will open up a new page. From there, in the right hand corner is a drop down box it should say “call” click it. Then you can go to “phone” once on that page look at the bottom setting and touch the screen to turn this all the way down. The beep will stop but the rest of your tones will still be heard. It just turns off that beep. Which can get a little old. You also do not have to listen to the same text messaging tone. You have the option to change that as well despite some users that apparently didn’t look hard enough. = ) Go to settings-Sound profiles-Normal-and then click that drop down box in the right hand corner click on “message” There are only a few to choose from on the phone but you can indeed add your own. Now it doesn’t do individual text messaging sounds per caller. It is just one sound for every text message no matter who is messaging you. But if you have a sound that you like you can use that. You just have to add the song to your phones “sounds” NOT your memory card. That is where I have mine. If you don’t have a program that you can use to add the photos to your phone you can download Samsung studio pc. Just go to their website and you will find it. This software will allow you to explore your phone from your pc and add things and delete what you don’t want as well. Once you have put your ringtones onto your phones “sounds” you can follow the steps above to set one as your text messaging tone. You can also turn up all of your sounds by going to the menu-settings-sound profiles-click normal- and click on each drop down box to change the volume of your phone. From your main screen you can also change the volume by hitting the upper left side of your phone. I really love my phone and it works great. The style of the phone is sleek and really smooth. I have the pink one but a friend of mine has the espresso and it also looks really nice. I am not as impressed with the camera as I thought I would be. It isn’t as easy to take pictures as I thought and they don’t come out very well. If I figure out how to make them look better I will post it on here
I have the Samsung behold and my friend has the iphone. I love my phone, but the iphone has so many applications!! We were comparing our phones and yes the iphone has it beat in that department. The Behold is much smaller and better looking, but the iphone has it going on!
try th samsumn f700.. it will surely put the iphone to trash LMAO
well i like my phone, this is an awsome phone. i can put movies on mine. i had pinapple express, wall e, john q, and madea goes to jail. i think its a really great phone.
thanks Kristina for the advise on how to turn the key volume off
Does anyone know how to delete the Recent Receipts shown when you go to text message soemone ….
Yes, Kristina, I’ve had this phone for a few weeks and I was getting upset because I couldn’t change the text message sound either. I guess I should have looked a little harder into the apps so I could find it! I love the phone, it’s good enough for me. And I like that it’s small. Just buy a case for it if you think it’s too little, that bulks it up a lot
Thanks, thats what I meant to say lol
I’m on my third Behold because i’ve had so many problems with it. Now Tmobile has me over a barrell because the only phone they’re willing to exchange it for is a very basic blackberry(with nowhere near the fuctions or capabilities) that’s available free with upgrade if I hadn’t just upgraded to BUY the pricey behold. I like the idea of the Behold and the features, but it just doesn’t work right much of the time. The widgets that I use most often respond to touch but don’t actually open the application, so I have to use the menu anyway. It freezes up about once a week to the point where I have to manually shut down. Sometimes I even have to take the battery off to shut it down. I bought it for the high megapixel camera, but the picture quality is not great and the camera is very slow. I like that the video camera takes long clips, but doesn’t let you send them via video message. Even if you go through through the trouble of downloading onto a computer and attaching them to an email, they’re in a format that won’t open. I like the Qwerty keyboard and all of the punctuation screens, but it does freeze up momentarily quite opten, though that’s not as troubleing as some of the other issues. I’m not willing to downgrade signifacantly and be out the money I spent on this phone, so I’m gonna just grin and bear it. But in hindsight, I probably would’ve gone with a different phone.
mirabug, i had a similar problem with a previous phone: tmobile was only willing to offer me a significantly inferior phone, but with proper arguing you can certainly work your way towards a better phone. Just keep demanding that you be offered an exchange with an equal or superior phone, call 611 and ask for a supervisor. I was able to exchange my nokia 5610 (80 dollars) with a samsung behold (150 dollars). it can be done, just keep pestering, and if all else fails, threaten to switch to another provider, they’ll flip.
the picttures wont show uppp on my behold & the camera is sooooooooooooo slow it wasnt slow at first but it is now and iv only had this phone for a week other than that its good
I’d like to know if when on call you get the alert that you have a message and that you can even read the message and respond to it? how is the behold compare to the T-mobile Wing?
I just want to say that lily girl is RETARDED!! “The phone is a touch screen piece of crap because i have butter fingers, I can’t spell and I don’t know how to explain anything. I think I got myself confused but yes, it’s a piece of crap” LMAO
Has anyone tried to use epocrates on it? How did it work? I’ve only used it on an iphone where it is just one click to get there…I’m looking at getting either an iphone or a behold for mainly that usage so i want one that works the best.
It’s ok but I’m not sure it’s ever going to have the aps I would like compared to others. Does a lot of cool things poorly. Frustrating lack of flexibility and makes me want to switch to something that offers more, iphone or Blackberry. Camera is very slow, I’m not sure why. Not all that excited by the browser. I’m sure it’s all just the bugs of a new machine but why do I have to wait and pay for the bugs? I will probably switch at some point.
I’ve read the post at least 30 times on how to change your message tone, but can’t figure it out still. My phone setting is on normal, but where is this drop screen your talking about? Please help me, I hate the message tone now, and desperately want to change it!
hi..friends….
i buy new behold if anybody have website address for download useful applications then post for me.
thanks alot kristina! i never thought about searching there to set ringtones for when i get a text message..
Does anyone know how to change the pictures that come up when you press the hold key?
I hate seeing gay flowers -.-
I just wanted a clarification on the Samsung Behold. I’m under the impression that anytime you receive a voice mail, you will automatically receive a text message also. Can anyone let me know if this is true. Thanx
I hate the iPhone and I think the Samsung BEHOLD is the coolest phone in the world because it is the best phone. It is really the iPhone Killer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kristina: you are a JEWEL

Thanks so much. I was constantly putting mine on vibrate because I didn’t like the keyboard’s beeping… & that ‘call’ drop-down menu is in such an aobscure place I never noticed it before, even though I’ve had this phone for 6 months! Your post was really helpful
The first iPhone is beret than this piece of nasty
sory beter haha
Liz i had the same problem as you… when getting to the screen where you can choose normal, silent, vibration etc. Touch the normal not the square on the right hand side, by touching the normal it bring you to a new screen that has that drop box they were talking about at the top right corner, from there go down to message and you will from there be able to set your new text message tone or song. The volume seems really low on mine so i have it on ring and vibrate. Hope this helps?
Hey guys does youtube work good on the Behold. I have 3G coverage where I live just wondering about using the browser on youtube. Thanks in advance!
Bless You Kristina!
I think the Behold ROCKS!
FYI, just got that behold phone at Walmart with 2 year contract extension for only $50.
I have behold, but I don’t think any phone beats iPhone. It’s so much faster than other touchscreens. Samsung Eternity’s the only phone that comes close to iPhone..lookwise only though because Behold’s the same as Eternity.
Much love Kristina, much love! I read over and over how to change the message tone and it would’nt go that speical menu. Your supposed to hit the word “Normal” not the little box to check it off in sound profiles.
My cousin has the iphone. I dont really know which is better…. I think the iphone has less customization as the behold. But iphone is for those whole maybe wanna download a whole bunch of stuff on it. Im not sure… xP
Does anyone know how to make a slideshow as a wallpaper like on the LG Voyager?
how do u get ur pics from ur samsung behold 2 ur computer… using a usb cable
I have a behold its great!!! Did you no you can use the youtube downloader and convert files to put them on the phone or even email them in the right format I was going to get the Iphone but its way to big. Alot of my friends have the Iphone 2 of them want to trade me I always say no. Try out the youtube downloader on your pc its cool have them music videos for free!!!
Liz, here’s how to change the message tone on your phone: press “Menu”, press “Settings”, press “Sound profiles”, on this “Sound profiles” page, you can see the word “Normal” and a blue button at the right, DO NOT click on the blue button (I believe that’s what you did, and that’s why you’re lost), you should click on the word “Normal”, then you could see a drop down menu on the next page at the top right, click on the downward arrow, you can find “Call”, “Message” and “Phone”, click on the “Message”, on the next page, you will see a box under the “Message alert tone”, click on the box and you’ll find 5 different tones, click on them one by one to see which one you like (they all sound terrible!); or you can click on the grey “Sounds” button located at the bottom right, this allows you to make a choice from the tones you download, it could be music or voice tone.
P.S. if you click on the “Phone” at the drop down menu, it allows you to change the Keypad tone, you can switch to the funny “TouchWiz” tone from the boring “Beep” tone, good lucky!
i have the behold. it was a gift from my sis-in law.. I love it, however just went to the white g1. is that an upgrade? also, i like it, but the “all touch screen” gets annoying after a while. I chose the G1 because it has the keypad and the touch screen. The behold is cool, dont get me wrong, but all touch…once the screen goes out, it’s over and unless you r eligible for upgrade, its all refurbs from there. also tha pink behold is pretty and girly, and petite and sleek, but thats about it. The touch screen does not work for a lot of sites, like my bank. also its not a phone that you can be discreet when “sneak texting” at work cause the screen keyboad is so sensitive. Then ppl think you are crazy when you accidentally send nonsense to them via text msg. Did i make a good choice going with the G1? Let me know what you think.
I have a behold, it’s a good phone, but it doesn’t have that clear quality on yourtube videos like the iphone does. but the camra it has kills the iphone camra, 5 mega pixles is bad ass for this phone.. all around it’s a good phone, not as powerful as the iphone app wise and clear wise for youtube. but all around i love it.
I have tha phn and I luv it tha pics r slow but its cool
Thanks for the review
I’ll keep your info in mind before I make a purchase.
