Samsung Behold Unlocked

On the T-Mobile Network, to unlock the Samsung SGH-T919 (Behold):

Power on without SIM
Type in #7465625*638*Unlock code# (8 digit unlock code*)
Device should say: “Network Lock Deactivated”
Phone may automatically reboot
*The 8 digit code can be obtained by calling T-Mobile Technical Support and given the representative the IMEI number. In exchange they will give you the Subsidy Unlock Code.

To obtain the IMEI number press *#06# on your mobile device.

    Hi !
I have just bought a samsung behold yesterday. I want to transfer contacts from my old Nokia 6610 mobile phone. I have copied all the contacts from the old phone intoa an xl file.

Is there any way i can upload the contacts in the xl file onto my Samsung Behold phone?

any info on this is really appreciated.

  3. Claudia on January 17th, 2009 at 7:45 am

What are we unlocking? I’m pretty new at all this stuff and keep reading questions on how to unlock the behold. What will unlocking do to it?

  4. Hawkeyeaz1 on January 30th, 2009 at 6:22 pm

Claudia: If you never plan to use the phone with another carrier (ex: AT&T or outside the US) then unlocking will do nothing. However, if you plan to travel outside the US, or ever see a plan AT&T has you like, but you want to keep your phone it will save you a lot of money.

Phones are normally locked to their carrier, i.e. AT&T or T-Mobile or (in Canada) Rogers or Fido so you cannot switch carriers without switching phones. Unlocking the phone allows you to keep your phone. If you travel outside the US, being stuck with T-Mobile would be an expensive roaming plan or an expensive ‘out of country’ plan, whereas you could buy a prepaid plan in (say) Canada for like $50 for so many minutes and refill as you want or a full fledged plan and save hundreds if you use your phone a lot outside the US.

(Loose analogy:) It is akin to your car dealer setting it so only the dealer can do any repairs on your car, so you cannot go to the small auto repair shop down the street. But when you unlock your phone, it is like being able to take your car anywhere for repairs.

iPhones (for example) cannot be used with any carrier but AT&T (in the US) and if you buy an iPhone in the US, you cannot use it on the carrier in China or Canada, etc unless you pay a lot for the roaming/international plan or unlock it (which AT&T and Apple are doing their best to prevent from happening). Similarly, buying an iPhone in Europe for cheap and bringing it here you will likewise have to unlock or pay huge roaming costs.

  6. Sherry on February 6th, 2009 at 2:50 am

How do you get the phone to go on the web after it is unlocked? My phone is unlocked, I am on ATT, can make calls. but cannot get to go on the web.

  7. Steve on February 12th, 2009 at 9:29 pm

    Hi Sherry =)

In reference to your question about the settings required to use internet on the Behold while not on the T-Mobile Network…

Check howardforums.com you should be able to find the proper settings there.

To enter those settings into the phone just dial *#6984125*#
This will allow you to access a menu where you can make all the necessary changes. Hope this helps.

  9. Dave on February 15th, 2009 at 3:51 am

I just bought an unlocked Samsung behold, the phone works fine on my network but the internet doesn’t work because it still has T-mobile settings. Can these setting be changed so I can browse the internet on a network other than T-Mobile? I’ve had several unlocked phones from many different manufacturers other than Samsung in the past as well as different original carriers and was always able to go into settings and change them to allow me to browse on my carrier’s network. I use the Rogers network in Canada. I can’t seem to find the internet setting on the behold. If anyone knows how to do this I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks

hey, anyone experiencing issues with theie samsung beholds restarting uncontrolably when a memory card is inserted into it? i thought it was my phone, had it replaced four times. thought it was specific to my sim, so i switched it out with another friends’ sim, still didn’t work. thought it was the memory cards so i bought three different brands, all micro sdhc. didn’t help. thought it was file corruption, tried to format my memory card, still didn’t work. i’m beginning to suspect my problem is an actual firmware issue, and i was wondering if anyone would know where to get a firmware update? as far as i know i have the latest firmware, but i wanna reflash it to it’s original factory firmware before i call t-mobile YET AGAIN, and duke it out with them to get another phone. please help me head in the right direction.

  39. joey on June 11th, 2009 at 11:23 am

as long as there are no files on my memory card, my phone works great. the minute there is just ONE file (of any kind) my phone restarts itself uncontrollably. Could this be a firmware issue? and if so, would flashing my firmware again be the solution to my problem? if you could tell me how to find the original factory or carrier firmware for the behold, or point me in the right direction on the net i’d appreciate it. email me as soon as you can, thanks.

  63. Maciek on October 2nd, 2009 at 3:46 am

    Hawkeyeaz1 and Claudia,

You gotit wrong. You can use your unlocked phone outside US, but you will be charged roaming prices as all calls go via two networks: local one that has agreement with your carrier and then your carrier (e.e.g T-Mobile in the USA). The price of such call is very high per minute.

To avoid that you can simply arrange SIm card (in Europe you can get one in many regular stores, gas stations…. even groceries sometimes) and have local phone number in matter of minutes. Even though the phone calls will not be the cheapest possible it will be fraction of cost what you pay for roaming (using your carries bound phone on foreign network).

I kept doing this a lot when traveling to my origin country from where I permamnetly live (USA). T-Mobile knows that I do this, but I always return so they seem to give me some privileges. If you do not have such then you can always get online to unlocking services, pay that $10 and unlock your phone permanently so it works with any SIM card.

BTW Verizon does not use SIm cards as they are CDMA (still) and not GSM like 70% of this world (yes outside the USA Verizon is a small telecommunication company with none coverage in most of the countries due to lack of CDMA system popularity – GSM…. or more modern once are dominant). There is story why GSM was invented, but I will not tell historic background of this part this time. The fact is that all telecommunication companies are planning on modern standard that will make all phones to work in any place.

In the meantime you may or you may not need to unlock your phone to accept SIM cards from other networks. T-Mobile requires number of months to be with them before they will give you unlock code. Again that can be bypassed and code can be obtained online for a samll fee. the code is generated based on phone factory built in code called IMEI that you retrieve with some combination of keyboard keays (a special command entered at right moment). That’s it.

Hi, just this past week My gf and I parted we both have samsung behold, she was the primary account holder, and cut my phone off, I dont want to use T-Mobile as they have recently changed their plans in the US and have done away with Favorite 5 plans, but I love my phone and all my contacts are there and I am very use to it. I was wondering if it was at all possible to go with a everything included plan for say $50 a month (nextel Boost), and use their sim in my phone, I would buy the cheapest phone they have and maybe switch sims so I can use my behold, Im thinking this might work if I unlock it 1st. Does anyone know if this or something else could work so I may use my Behold but avoid a large deposit and a bad plan with T-Mobile? Please let me know what are my options.
